PROCESS:
Mission #1

  • Students will work in teams of four
  • Each group member will be responsible for a different topic to study
  • Use the Internet links provided to find information about your state
  • Each member must take notes about one of the topics listed in the TASK section
  • Have enough information to include in your poems

After your team has completed Mission #1 of this Webquest, your next job will be to find out about different types of poetry.

Mission #2

Use the Internet links provided to determine which types of poems your team will write.

  • Each member will write one poem about the topic chosen from the TASK section and identify the type of poem you wrote(haiku, limerick, quatrain, etc.). Be sure to incorporate your research notes into your poems!
  • Your team must write four DIFFERENT types of poems and correctly identify each.In a Poetic State
  • Design an illustration for each poem. These can be drawn on the computer using Kid Pix or on paper using crayons and/or markers.
  • Create a presentation using Power Point or make a picture book to present your poems to the class.
  • Include an ‘About the Authors” page that tells the audience a little more about each member of your group.
  • You must identify the type of poem you wrote AND the topic that each is about.
