The following chart lists the feedback that I received from Response-O-Matic after teachers completed the lessons, quizzes, and movies on November 17, 2003. These were the actual users of my site, and judging from their responses I am very pleased with the results of my project!

Visitor name: Ingrid
Stuebner School: Sagebrush Elementary Job Title: Art Teacher Most Helpful Lesson: The control strip. This was new information
for me. Least Helpful Lesson: I liked all of the lessons, a sequential
presentation of information from the beginning to end. Some things you know
but if you don't use it you loose it. Quiz Feedback: Yes.
You read you think you know, but the quiz lets you know IF you really
know the information or not. If
one is a visual (icon) learner then some of the terms in the quiz you have to
think about; especially the selection of the computer that you would select
to use as far as memory is concerned. Movie Feedback: The on line movies were GREAT!!! Part of the natural response to
computer learning is visual and I could understand what to do when I saw it
visually as compared to reading it step by step. Other Lessons to Include: How to gather information more. Sometimes I will find a sight and
then go back to it and the same information is not available. Other Comments: This is going to be a great class. Step-by-step and sequential. I hope I can review this information
if something comes up so I will not have to ask you information all of the
time. It will be a true learning
situation. |
Visitor name: Kathryn Baker School: Sagebrush Job Title: 3rd Grade Elementary teacher Most Helpful Lesson: Understanding the control panel. It helps to know what the various
sections mean. So I will know
how to use them. Least Helpful Lesson: The last lesson on themes appearance. I probably wouldn't use them. Quiz Feedback: Yes.
It reviewed the information and showed if I knew it. Movie Feedback: Yes it helps to get it again orally. Other Lessons to Include: What should you do when you make a
mistake. Is there something you should never do to your computer? Other Comments: Nice class, but I definitely need a print out of this lesson so I don't forget. |

Visitor name: Debbie Dingess Job Title: PTCO TA Most Helpful Lesson: The lesson about chooser/server lesson to
see what applications you have opened.
When I was doing the directory I had a hard time finding it on the
computer Least Helpful Lesson: Lesson 8 Quiz Feedback: Quizzes were good Movie Feedback: good--reinforced the movies |
Visitor name: Carol Davis School: Sagebrush Special
Ed. Most Helpful Lesson: I enjoyed the lesson on changing the
appearances on my computer, but the lesson on printers is more of what I
always have questions about. Least Helpful Lesson: The lesson that was least helpful to me
was the lesson about the RAM, because I never think to use it or really
understand it. Quiz Feedback: Yes, but I either didn't read some of the lessons
very carefully or you asked some questions that I just didn't remember
reading about. Movie Feedback: I really liked the movies. It helped me see what I had just read
about. Other Comments: I can really tell that you put a lot of time into this presentation. Great job! |

Visitor name: Trish Charlebois School: Sagebrush Job Title: 2nd
grade teacher Most Helpful Lesson: Control Strip, because I knew NOTHING about
it. Actually they were all
informative - either a review of something I was aware of, or new. Least Helpful Lesson: Theme Cute, but I don't think I'll use yet. Maybe when I am so bored that I am looking for something
to do on my computer. Quiz Feedback: yes - review, plus the last one that I was just
guessing at, it gave me a chance to read it again. Movie Feedback: loved them - where's the Junior Mints? Other Lessons to Include: You tell me - I know I need it when I
see the lessons, otherwise I don't know what I don't know. Other Comments: Really good class - thanks. |
Visitor name: Debbie couture School: sagebrush Job Title: 4th Grade Teacher Most Helpful Lesson: all because I'm not familiar with computers Least Helpful Lesson: none I need all the help I can get Quiz Feedback: yes good reinforcement Movie Feedback: yes again good reinforcement Other Lessons to Include: I need to absorb this first Other Comments: great job Joel! Thanks so much! |

Visitor name: Doreen Nadler School: Sagebrush Job Title: Library Media Specialist Most Helpful Lesson: The Control Strip and learning how to find
the memory available helped me the most because I don't know much about the
technical aspects. Least Helpful Lesson: I knew how to change printers and find the
server as a result of your great teaching and patience. Quiz Feedback: It helped to reinforce the information. Movie Feedback: These movies also reinforced the text and
highlighted the most important information. Other Lessons to Include: You might want to show the teachers the school Intranet site and the school website |
Visitor name: Christy Williamson School: Sagebrush Job Title: Fifth Grade Teacher Most Helpful Lesson: All were helpful b/c they built upon one
another. Least Helpful Lesson: They were all helpful but I did feel a bit
overloaded with the vocabulary in the first lesson. Quiz Feedback: The quizzes were a great way to keep me
accountable for what I read. Some things I totally missed like the fact that
you should only click once on a printer to select it. That is a good thing to
know. Movie Feedback: Great movies, easy to follow and I liked being
able to hear the explanation along with it. Other Lessons to Include: I would like to know about downloading
wallpaper or pictures for a screensavers. I would also like to know about imovies and how to scan
photos to make a picture CD. I would also like to know how to insert pictures
in a PowerPoint and then put music on a PowerPoint presentation if it is
possible. Other Comments: Great job. The one part that was confusing was
the part about highlighting text and moving it over another area to see it.
Overall, very well thought out and user-friendly. THANK YOU! |

Visitor name: Karen Houston School: Sagebrush Job Title: Grade 2 Teacher Most Helpful Lesson: Lesson 1! Learning about where to find and how to read information
specific to my iMAC. Least Helpful Lesson: The one about the printer. I have had so much practice in this
area that the information was not new to me... but that is OK. (One out of 8 is not to shabby) Quiz Feedback: Absolutely!
It made me aware of the areas that I blew over and should not have. Movie Feedback: It was a great reinforcement. I am the type of "student"
that needs as many modes of learning as possible. Other Lessons to Include: I need more time to think. I am burnt right now. Other Comments: Fabulous job. I felt more comfortable today than in a larger, faculty
setting. |
Visitor name: Rosanna Hood School: Sagebrush Job Title: 2nd Grade Most Helpful Lesson: The Finder. This is probably the most important, because when kids are
on the computer, they forget to close applications. I forgot about the finder. Least Helpful Lesson: Probably the applications. It just seems like you can just get a
little fancier when you've mastered
everything else. Quiz Feedback: Yes, it just helped me recall the information. Movie Feedback: Yes, very helpful. This was a good visual review of what I read. Other Lessons to Include: I'm not sure. Other Comments: No, this was very valuable information. Thanks. |
|
Visitor name: Jan Taylor School: Sagebrush Job Title: GT Teacher Most Helpful Lesson: The lesson on memory because I needed a
refresher course on this. Least Helpful Lesson: The intro. lesson because I already knew
the information. Quiz Feedback: Yes, they let me see if I really did understand
and know the information from each lesson. Movie Feedback: I liked the movies. I would suggest that you try and get a better recording of
your voice. It is sometimes hard
to understand what you are saying.
I think the movies are helpful because they give the user
another way to learn the material presented in the lessons. Other Lessons to Include: I can't think of any now but I am sure
I will before the course is over. Other Comments: Congratulations. You have done a good job with your on-line tutorial. I believe a novice can go through the tutorial alone and understand the material. |
Visitor name: Debbie Holton School: Sagebrush Job Title: teacher Most Helpful Lesson: How to save on the server because I would
hate to lose the documents and other things I use from year to year. Least Helpful Lesson: How to change the appearance of the
computer because I really don't care about what is on the screen most of the
time. Quiz Feedback: Yes, because I had to go back and review the info
if I couldn't answer the questions. Movie Feedback: I like them. They were helpful because you could hear the information
again while seeing the arrow point to the appropriate areas they were talking
about. Other Lessons to Include: I would like to learn how to use First
class more efficiently. How to
find things on it and delete unwanted items. Other Comments: Thanks, I learned a lot tonight. I'm feeling more positive about the class and what we will be learning. Will we be able to access this again from our classroom computers to review this as needed? |

Visitor_name: Jennifer Ford School: Sagebrush Elementary Job Title: 2nd Grade Teacher Most Helpful Lesson: I didn't know how to access information
about my computer, so the tutorial on the profiler was helpful. I also liked information on the
finder and the server, since I still have problems knowing the difference
between the two. Least Helpful Lesson: Even if I thought I knew a particular
topic you were covering, I read it again to get a second dose of information
- it always helped. Quiz Feedback: Yes, they helped. They reinforced the main points of each tutorial. I especially liked that the facts
were restated when an answer was right - so you had one more opportunity to
read the "why" behind the answers. Movie Feedback: Truthfully, I didn't watch them yet, since I'm
still sitting at school doing my makeup work for the missed class and it's
6:30 PM. I liked the movies you
did to help us with the ILP's earlier this year, though. Other Lessons to Include: I need help saving my work!!! I can't find anything anymore and
it's really frustrating. When I
was always at the same computer, I must have saved everything on the hard
drive, and now that some things are on the server, some are on the hard
drive, and some are in god knows what files, I can't locate things. I would like to learn how to
reorganize my files into folders, like "camp info.", "2nd
grade LA", "5th grade math", etc. And then it would be nice to know where I'm saving things
and how to access them easily. I
hate being this disorganized. Other Comments: Good information - thanks! |

hughes School: sagebrush Job Title: kindergarten teacher Most Helpful Lesson: lessons 1 2 3 4 theygave me the basics that i need from which to launch
myself into the use of the computer Least Helpful Lesson: probably 8 it is well set up.
ItŐs just that for
where i am now which is at
square one i get
overwhelmed by all the options Quiz Feedback: definitely. they gave me a chance to perform and see what i had absorbed. it was non
threatening so if i got an answer correct i could get immediate satisfaction and if i were
wrong i could try again . thus
the quizzes themselves were excellent learning tools. Movie Feedback: since
this is all new to me reading the text was only partially meanindful to me. the
movies gave me another chance to go through the information , this time
visually and auditorily. Other Lessons to Include: i an afraid that at this time i
can't even imagine. Other Comments: as i commented to you at the end of the lessons,
i feel like astronomers must have felt
when they looked at the
first pictures from the
Hubble telescope. it's a whole new galaxy |

Visitor name: Barb Kiefer School: Sagebrush Job Title: P.E. Most Helpful Lesson: Memory Least Helpful Lesson: all were helpful Quiz Feedback: Yes, made me think and check my thinking Movie Feedback: Helpful |
Visitor name: Jennifer Koras School: Sagebrush Job Title: teacher Most Helpful Lesson: All of them, being the computer expert that
I am, I need lots of hands on work.
The printer lesson was very helpful as was the one about the memory. Least Helpful Lesson: They were all helpful. Quiz Feedback: Yes, they made me think about what I just learned
and practice right away. Movie Feedback: I am very visual so they were helpful. Other Comments: Great job and very helpful. Now I feel like I have somewhere to
start figuring out a problem on my own before I call for help. |
